Some types of fitness and dance classes adhere to a discipline of strictly prescribed movements. The communication is one way – the teacher telling (or sometimes yelling!) directions at you. This emphasis on form and technique can make you feel like you are ordering your body around. You worry “Am I doing it right?” or think “I’m not good at this.”
